To provide the best possible experience for our participants, we have requirements they must meet to be accepted into the program. We look forward to including all Eagle County youth who meet these criteria.
To be eligible, applicants must be 5 – 21 years old, enrolled in the Eagle County School System, and must have at least one of the following disabilities:
Use of sign language or lip reading as primary form of communication. This program is not for individuals that have mild hearing loss. Children who qualify wear two hearing aids with a hearing loss of 35 decibels or more in both ears.
Any single or combination of hand, arm, foot or leg.
Any individual with a permanent physical disability that requires adaptive equipment or adaptive ski technique. Adaptive equipment may include mono skis, bi skis, dual skis, outriggers, ski clips, walkers and harnesses.
A mental impairment that affects the ability to process information and/or coordinate and control the body, which limits the individual’s ability to navigate the environment safely and independently. Examples may include Autism, Down syndrome, and TBIs – traumatic brain injuries that results in severe cognitive impairments. Applicants are required to be in a Significant Support Needs program/classroom.
Legally blind (20/200) to totally blind. Physician diagnosis is required.
